Por La Tierra – Por La Cultura, or PLT–PLC, was created from a simple belief: the well-being of our communities is deeply connected to our relationship with the land, our culture, and one another.

Founded in 2024 and based in Mesa, Arizona, PLT–PLC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to strengthen these connections through environmental education, sustainability, cultural expression, leadership development, and community-centered programming.

The name reflects the heart of our work. “Por La Tierra,” For The Earth, represents our commitment to caring for the places we call home and creating more sustainable ways of living. It is rooted in the understanding that environmental stewardship is not only about protecting natural spaces, but also about creating healthy, resilient communities for generations to come.

“Por La Cultura,” For The Culture, reflects our belief that culture, creativity, identity, and community are essential to how people understand themselves and their place in the world. Our stories, traditions, relationships, and shared experiences give communities strength and help shape the futures we build together.

For us, these two ideas have never been separate. Caring for the earth and caring for our communities are deeply connected. When people have opportunities to connect with the environment, explore their culture, develop their leadership, and build relationships with one another, they are better positioned to create communities that are healthy, sustainable, and thriving.

PLT–PLC brings these ideas to life through programs that turn connection into action, from environmental education and hands-on sustainability projects to student fellowships, community engagement, and opportunities for people to learn, lead, and grow.
